- The three lessons that were most helpful for me to see were Midwifery (Ariami Garcia), Physical Therapy (Ian Kam), and Primary Care (Joseph Garcia). These three were the most helpful to me because they all revolved around careers in the medical field. They really introduced to me the different aspects of a patient and health care provider relationship, in which is a very important factor of physical therapy. Ian's presentation taught me a lot about the things a physical therapist does and what I could do to explore more into the field of physical therapy. All three presentations truly made me think about physical therapy and what steps I would take to pursue that topic.
2. List one thing that you learned about the senior projects in interviews that will help you get off to a good start?
- One good thing that I learned about the senior projects in interviews that will help me get off to a good start is to start as early as you can! They mentioned that the project does require a lot of work and the earlier you start, the easier it will be on yourself, and that will hopefully lead you to a good and prepared presentation.
3. What topic(s) are you considering and why?
- The topics that I am considering are physical therapy and neonatal nursing. I truly have an interest in working with children/adolescents, so I would definitely be interested in pediatric physical therapy. I would also be considering general physical therapy because of my interest of the human body and sports medicine. The topic of neonatal nursing was introduced to me from a senior presentation that I watched and I found it to be very interesting and something I may like to pursue as a topic.
4. What EQ do you think might be interesting to consider in guiding a project like this?
- What is the most important factor in insuring a child's (patient) full recovery after a physical therapy session?
- What is the most important way in insuring that a newborn with issues will be able to fully recover?
- For my choices, I have researched multiple hospitals in which I may be applying to go volunteer at. These hospitals include the Casa Colina Hospital or the Queen of the Valley Hospital. My other options for physical therapy mentorship will be at privately owned physical therapy centers. Some of these include, Coury & Buehler Physical Therapy, Agape Physical Therapy, California Rehab and Sports Therapy, and Movement Science Physical Therapy & Fitness.
